Chipotle/Taylor Farms Presentation 3/31/16

March 31st, 2016

We love Chipotle.! Especially after the youth organizers of our annual LGBT Youth Empowerment Summit requested we provide them with Chipotle for lunch and to our surprise, Chipotle donated lunch meals for over 150 people. Yet, we've sadly learned that Chipotle purchases their tomotoes from Taylor Farms. An organization notorious for the harrasment of their LGBT employees. Many of us recently learned about one of those employees, Jose, who works at their Tracy facility. Jose was punched in the gut for being gay and the management of Taylor Farms did nothing to protect him.

In a show of solidarity for our local LGBT community, youth organizers will gather at the Chipotle on Pacific Ave. Jasper Diaz, youth outreach organizer for the Pride Center stated, “In certain times like these, it’s important for our community to show our solidarity for those in need. No one should be allowed to be harassed or bullied at work and it’s our hope that Chipotle will join us in sending a message to Taylor Farms that this behavior is unacceptable.”

Please join us on Thursday the 31st as our youth activist present Chipotle with a petition asking them to once again stand tall with our local LGBT community and investigate the conditions our LGBT siblings are being forced to work in.

We will meet at 4 p.m. in front of Chipotle. Remember: This is a friendly demonstration. Our goal is to educate Chipotle on the happenings at Taylor Farms. Thank you!
