This. Is. Progress.

It's been a very interesting couple weeks here at the Center. From a very successful Our Voice with Sondra St. James to our youth group working hard to put on a prom, tings are going well. There were a couple hiccups though, like hearing the follow:  "What is that? Oh that's some gay bullsh*t!!"

Those words were overheard by youth group members from a student attending an STD HIV AIDS Youth Health Event we had a booth at. Then there was this hate mail we received following this great article The Record's Lori Gilbert wrote up about Ms. James' engagement at our Center. These unfortunate responses are definitely not the rule yet they are reminders of the importance of advocating for tolerance, respect and equality for all locally.

Just two weeks ago we met with leaders at Stockton Unified School District who agreed on a partnership that includes working with high school counselors and principles  to provide support for our LGBT youth and coordinating a fall county-wide LGBT youth summit. This. Is. Progress.

Now, we can only continue our work here at the Pride Center if our doors remain open. Can you help us keep our doors open by attending our Red Carpet Gala on February 24th?  We only need 100 people to stand up and purchase a ticket at $35. Will you stand up for equality and join us on February 24th? With a fun paparazzi experience on the red carpet, swag bag gifts, a great "Guess the Oscar Winner" door prize and more...you don't want to miss out on all the fun.

And remember, purchase your ticket online before Feb. 8th and automatically qualify for the chance to win a complete Oscar Party make-over courtesy of Salon Da-V (hair), Dayvid Denvor (make-up) and That's Showbiz (costume rental) for the big day! Click here to purchase your ticket today!
