What is your New Year’s Resolution?

It’s that time of the year when people consider making  New Year’s resolutions. For those of us at the Pride Center it’s a no-brainer, keeping our doors open throughout 2013!

We have many great memories from 2012. One of my favorite stories occurred during our first Pride Festival and involves the wonderful folks from Valley Ministries.  VMMCC sponsored and hosted our Kid’s Zone and early in the day a teenager approached one of their volunteers to discuss spiritual things.  After years of dealing with Bible-backed homophobia, this young person found comfort and acceptance.  These members of Valley Ministries validated this young person’s existence.  It is kindness like this that often makes the difference between life and death.

Our Pride Center is Ground Zero for providing support and resources for our LGBT people. We help with relationship challenges, mental illness, work discrimination, substance abuse, and student and adult bullying. Your Pride Center works as a conduit and connects people to the resources they need to live a healthy and productive life. Providing an LGBT-specific space is paramount! Most of these people will only seek help if they trust that their sexual orientation and gender identity are respected.

There are only a few days left in 2012. Can you help us start 2013 on the right track by donating to our Pride Center today? We rely on the generosity of people like you to keep our doors open. And all donations are tax deductible for income tax purposes.  Click here to donate today!

Thanks for being part of our family in 2012. We could not have had all our successes without you.  Have a fun and safe New Year!

Sincerely,

Nicholas Hatten
